Union Pacific Railroad conductor Dennis ''Alton'' Smith boards lead locomotive UP 9890, after meeting Amtrak Train 21, the Texas Eagle on Monday evening, July 17 2006 at McLean, Illinois. The 9890 and its mate are usually working the Alton Southern yards in East St. Louis, Illinois, but a power shortage has sent them North on train M ASBN (ALTON SOUTHERN - BLOOMINGTON).
