The reason why Britain has such a vibrant preservation scene. Five years after the end of steam on British Railways, withdrawn locos still stretch into the far distance at Dai Woodham's scrapyard in South Wales. Thanks to a continuing supply of wagons for scrapping there was plenty of work without the need to cut the locos, and a total of 213 were saved for preservation. R.I.P. Dai, the preservation world is forever in your debt.
