Remarks & Notes

Santa Fe SD45 5401 is the third locomotive to be painted in the SPSF "Kodachrome" scheme (after ATSF 5394 and SP 7551), and the first with yellow lettering, in anticipation of the impending merger with Southern Pacific. As we all know now, the merger was denied by the ICC and never occurred.
