| When British Railways withdrew steam no class A1 locos were saved. This loco is a brand new A1 class loco to be named Tornado. It is the first new build standard gauge steam loco in the UK since 1960 and is being built about 100 yards from where many of it's sisters were built in the late 1940s. It is now nearing completion after several years hard work and money raising by the A1 Locomotive Trust. It should steam in 2008. |
