Two of the famous fleet of MET GE 70 tonners wait out the weekend at McClure Yard on the south side of Modesto. MET #609 was first delivered to the Klamath Northern as their #205 in 1955. MET #603 was delivered to Cherry River Boom and Lumber as their #2, also in 1955. Sadly, about two years after I took this shot, these two units were shoving a cut of cars and hit a second cut pretty hard. MET handles canned goods, wine, and chemicals, which make their cars very heavy. Both units had their frames bent and were wrecked.
