| Leaving the hamlet of Irwell Vale, the railway crosses the River Irwell twice within a quarter of a mile as the river weaves its way along the valley. This is the first of the two bridges, the sharp of eye will note the old Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway boundary stone set into the riverside path. This location can be a little 'fragrant' if the wind is in the wrong direction, the reason is in the background behind the train! |
