| Over 100 sailboats competed in the 2008 Tri-State Regatta (Chicago to St. Joseph, St. Joseph to Michigan City, IN.) over a 3 day weekend at the end of August. A break in the race action was necessary as BNSF 5863 & CEFX 1019 led a 130-car coal train through the closed swing bridge. The bridge would be kept closed for another 15 minutes after this train passed to allow Amtrak's Pere Marquette to pass. |
