Moments after the Chessie Steam Special raced to Baltimore, a Septa PCC crossed the tracks with its oblivious passengers, passing straggler railfans. I have been told that this was the last trolley/railroad grade crossing in America, though it is now one of three. The pre-war air electric PCC is in SEPTA's 1970's "Gulf colors," which matched the Gulf gas stations of No Nox and Good Gulf fame. PCC #2042 is on Main Street, headed east on Route #11, inbound to City Hall along the oldest trolley route in Philadelphia. Delivered in 1940 by St. Louis Car, it was cut up in 1983 at Port Richmond scrap yard.
