The "ridge runner", with 18 cars, makes a run west of Madison, seen passing the Mt. Horeb depot. This was CNW's line from Madison to the narrow-guage network in SW Wisconsin that tapped lead mines, at this point only active to Dodgeville. At 10mph, the daylight chase ended not far from here. It was an out-one-day and back-the-next until the plug was pulled on the branchline. Today it is a bike path. You can see some of the other shots of this chase by clicking on "CNW 1776" above.
