| The present and future(?) of helper service? As the old stalwarts (SD40-2s 3427 and 3352) stand by at right, recently rebuilt SD40Es 6304 and 6301 are the head end helpers on westbound M9G, passing under the pedestrian overpasses in downtown Altoona. NS is planning on using 12 of the SD40Es (rebuilt from SD50s) in helper service. |
