Remarks & Notes

DMVW 3043 has enjoyed a long career. It was built for the Santa Fe in 1961 (as No. 1143) and served that railroad for many decades, eventually being rebuilt into a GP20u and renumbered 3043. Today it spends its time in the frozen landscape of North Dakota, pulling freight for the Dakota, Missouri Valley & Western. It was the first unit to wear the new DMVW paint scheme.
