Through much of New Mexico, Arizona and California, the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe and Route 66 were kissin' cousins. Johnny Mercer and Harry Warren immortalized the AT&SF in song, and Bobby Troup did likewise for Route 66. The Kingman, AZ water tank logo aptly illustrates the close proximity of these two iconic funnels leading toward the promised land. One of BNSF's "standard" locomotives on non-coal routes, Dash 9 4632 leads an eastbound manifest through Kingman on a warm Saturday morning.
