| An old shot from 1979. The Class 87s have now retired and most are being shipped to Bulgaria for use on freight trains. These locos were the premier motive power on the West Coast Main Line for nearly thirty years. Although not often photographed on freight workings, these two had just coupled onto a container train north of Springs Branch, Wigan in May 1979. Although the photo is bright, it was almost dark at the time and had to be taken with a very long exposure. |
