In 2004 steam still reigned supreme in the colossal complex (and I mean huge) that is Benxi Steelworks. Reputedly the most polluted city on the planet, you didn't just smell Benxi, you TASTED the place! Wreathed in steam, one of the steelworks' fleet of some 30 SY's is standing by the servicing point, as a worker nonchalantly crosses the tracks with his cycle. The 'mountain' in the background is, in fact, a gigantic spoil heap. Steam was to remain here for barely another year.
