          Remarks & Notes
GP10's 401 and 406 sit on the siding at Altoona, Iowa a few days (June 30,1988) after the worst accident in IAIS's history. Five locomotives (309,401,406,470, and 471)were involved in the head on collision which killed two crew members. 401 suffered a bent frame and body damage and was later rebuilt. 406 caught fire and was later scrapped due to the significant amount of fire, frame, and body damage.
