| After taking a lunch break at the Tower Bar & Grill, the crew of the LF62 takes a load of 10 cars back to the NS Chicago District at Runnion. Taken just 1/2 mile from my home, this railroad was also my childhood stomping grounds back in the late 60s and throughout the 70s. Hanging out all along this railroad was like a 2nd home to me. I can still vividly remember seeing the old Penn Central "bulldog" nose EMD F units so common on this line at that time. Today the F units are long gone and most of the GR&I line has been abandoned and dismantled starting in the late 70s. |
