Moving on 24 years from image 305431, S300 went through the V/Line era, then saw service with West Coast Railway before being sold to CFCLA in 2004. After refurbishment, S300's first job was on a series of broad gauge driver training runs with a ballast train on the then recently reopened Ballarat to Ararat line. Looking a little like Southern California with the wind farm on the distant Challicum Hills, S300, T376 and T373 draws to a stand just outside Ararat before reversing and heading back to Ballarat in May 2007.
