The summit of southern California's Cajon Pass is about 3770' in elevation, high enough that it receives snow several times per year - anything from a light dusting to heavier snow that lasts several days. In early 1998, an arctic storm dumped enough snow on the Pass to hide the fact that this is, in fact, a desert. Amtrak F40PH 352 leads the no longer operated train #35, The Desert Wind, westward at Summit on its trip from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles.
