Former D&RGW standard gauge C-28 2-8-0 #688 rests in the tiny yard of the SSLV in Blanca, CO. As SSLV #105, she survived at Blanca after sister #106, ex-D&RGW 583, was moved to the Colorado Railroad Museum in 1963 and was restored to her former owner's livery. Sadly, #688 didn't survive. Her late demise halved the number of extant Rio Grande standard gauge steam locomotives to one. She would have made a nifty static display at Alamosa for the Rio Grande Scenic......
