| A 14-coach special from Gloucester has arrived at Newcastle behind the newly-built A1 Pacific 'Tornado'. After a pause for loco servicing the train leaves Newcastle for a trip around the 'Blyth & Tyne' freight line network to the north of the city. Photo taken from Newcastle's 'Castle Keep', a historic structure that provides superb views of the railway's northern approaches to Central station. The Castle itself dates from 1168. ￡4 will get you to the top for a birds-eye view of frequent passing trains. The newly built steam loco is accelerating its train as if it were powered by electricity. |
