The gentle curves on the rising gradient between Gargrave and Hellifield provide ideal vantage points to see locomotives getting into their stride before attacking the 'long drag' of the Settle and Carlisle route. 'Scots Guardsman' makes a fine sight in beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery near Coniston Cold.
