    Remarks & Notes
Last Run For Green Mountain... The morning Woods Train rounds the corner out of Green Mountain Mill for the last time as the final revenue run readies for its trip down to the finishing mill in Longview, WA. At the controls is Gary Sweet, a career Weyerhauser (Weyco) man. Sweet was brakeman on the first run from Green Mountain in 1976 and now, 32 years later, engineer for its the final journey. His retirement just a short 30 miles away. Spurred by changing demand and pressure to consolidate, Weyco has closed the Green Mountain operation (a workforce of 150), to be replaced by a new lumber mill within its main Longview operations. As for the railroad, the last trains up to Green Mountain were to haul out empty cars and portions of the mill itself. The daily Landfill Train to Headquarters continued to operate. As of August 2010, a Florida holding company, Patriot Rail Corp., agreed to purchase and operate 160 miles of Weyerhaeuser's rail holdings by the end of the year. Thus ends 85 years of Weyco rail operations in Cowlitz County. Scanned From Transparency: Fuji RVP F
