        Remarks & Notes
As 1956 arrived it became obvious that the end of steam in Chicagoland was getting ever closer. Some railroads were already dieselized while others used steam rarely and were therefore hard to photograph. We decided to visit the C&NW facilities at 40th Street in Chicago, home of the commuter fleet of E class pacifics. We made our trip early in the New Year on a cold snowy day. C&NW M-3 0-6-0 2622 and a nice looking wood caboose wait near the yard office.
