| The ex-Virginian line across the southern part of its namesake state is one of the most inaccessible and impressive lines in the region. Trestles and tunnels dot the line built to minimize grades and curvature in a landscape that seems to be made of hills and curves. Here the first leg of the Roanoke to Danville, VA excursion is seen passing over the Roanoke River and will soon enter yet another tunnel near the town of Huddleston. |
