With little to show for an all day chase, I hiked in over a mile to this spot on the old Boston & Albany for a final attempt, hoping the S-curve and rock cut in the approach shot would pay off. But the light was nose-heavy, and the dark green of the units provided little differentiation against the rock face. In desperation I turned--and there was the story. The backlit exhaust showed the E units battling the grade, and the glossy flanks suited their high-profile assignment nicely.
