      Remarks & Notes
I had thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway and there was just time enough to take a parting shot of 'Darfield No.1' manfully struggling towards the line summit. Taken from private land with permission - well sort of! The farmer came by to give us a piece of his mind about leaving gates open, letting his livestock out and knocking down his dry stone walls. This regardless of the fact that we had committed none of these sins. He then regaled us with dire warnings about his 'bull' who would gore strangers, leaving him (the farmer) to pick up the bloody remnants. He then rode off in his tractor, allowing us to leave nothing (but footprints) and take nothing (but photographs). Strange folks these Dalesmen!

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)

Here is a collection of great images in which a tree (or trees) are an essential part of the composition.
