These United Technology turbo trains gave a noisy ride but were the first new American passenger train innovation is some time. I took a round trip turbo ride from Boston to New York for a weekend excursion in the winter of 1973. It was a fun ride for a railfan but I could understand that the noise and rough ride would be detrimental for the traveling public. Thank goodness we now have the Acela even though it falls short of many travelers’ expectations. I took this shot on railroad property far from any platform. Taking any pictures form this location would get one in serious trouble now with the security and liability mandates now in place. J C Smith, Jr. added information about this picture.
