The headlights of a southbound Sound Transit Link Light Rail train bring to life a variety of details in Beacon Hill Tunnel, from the curvature of the track to the sinuous path of the overhead contact wire to the construction joints in the tunnel itself. Shortly after this photo was taken, Sound Transit Police kicked me and my two friends out of the station, claiming that we were "not on the approved photographers list." Subsequent conversations with ST's Bruce Gray and Ed Frederick, Security Account Manager for Securitas (effectively the head of ST security), revealed that there is in fact no list for "approved photographers," and they informed me that photography from publicly-accessible areas on ST property (which specifically includes station platforms) is indeed permitted. Since this incident, I have not experienced any hassles from ST security agents, which seems to indicate that the agency's photography policy has finally been communicated to the field staff that interact with the public on a daily basis.
