Conrail SD45-2 No. 6666 and SD40-2 No. 6437 trailed a heavy eastbound manifest down the East Slope, east of Bennington, PA, on Oct. 3, 1982 to assist in braking. I have always had great admiration for railroad signal maintainers. They don't just have to climb the poles, first they have to get to them. As one can see by following the code line up the hill, that could be a ominous task in itself.
