| The Great Indian Peninsula(GIP) Railway main line from Bombay VT to Poona was electrified in 1929 using 1500 Volts D.C. After nearly 80 years of operation under 1500 Volts D.C. traction, Mumbai-Pune track is being brought under 25kV A.C. As a result, purely A.C. locomotives are being seen for the first time in this territory. Here is a WAG-7 class locomotive from Vijaywada shed with a goods train on Harris bridge. |
