UP's Lynndyl Subdivision exists the Salt Lake Valley rather abruptly at Lake Point, where the mainline curves along the north slope of the Oquirrh Mountains south toward the Tooele Valley. Here a Herzog ballast empty squeals around the Oquirrhs, just west of Lake Point siding. The Great Salt Lake is beginning to rise, showing the effects of a wet winter season and spring runoff. The 75 car train will reload at Murdock, Utah.
