Milw. 550 shuffles ore cars at Iron River. This trackage along with the unit and Milwaukee Road ore cars are all long gone. The Milwaukee Road H16-66's that worked Upper Michigan ore country last a little longer than there CNW brethren. I do recall visiting the CNW Escanaba roundhouse during the late summer of 1975 and the CNW FM's were stored but one Milwaukee H16-66 assigned to pool service with CNW remained operational and looked a little out of place with the C628's that had taken over CNW ore duties by then.Photo is part of my collection but has no photographer information on it, only date and location.
