| The SD40A was simply an SD40 built on an SDP45 frame to allow for an extra large fuel tank. The extra length is between the dynamic brake blister and the radiator. Illinois Central Gulf's were the only examples. Soo Line bought some from ICG around the time this photo was taken. |
