A pair of orange Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern locomotives throttle up out of the small hamlet of Coulterville, IL, with the L546. The sun would drop below the flat Illinois horizon in just a couple minutes; but until then, the J's look great in the sweet light. Before the CN acquired the EJ&E no one would ever have thought that a J engine would ever find its way to downstate Illinois, let alone two. The second unit, EJ&E 703, still sports the "J-Ball" logo on its nose.
