DITCHED, part 5: THE LIFT. On Wednesday, February 9, 2011, a southbound New England Southern light engine struck a patch of ice and toppled a full 130 degrees off the tracks and down an embankment. The FRA blamed illegal snowmobile activity as the cause of the ice pack. In this scene, crews from Winter's Rigging are pulling the locomotive upright after dragging it from the ditch to the right. You can see snow falling off the footboard as the engine dangles like a worm on a hook. Digital photo.
