| The switchback nature of the Caledon line is evident as the PHELOPHEPA climbs to the summit of Langhoogte (Literally "Long Heights" named after the long slog up them by ox wagon before the railway came). In the background, the Houwhoek mountains over which the train has passed. In its 5 hour journey from Cape Town, the train has climbed two major mountain passes as well as 3 substantial upgrades. |
