All was absolutely still and overnight mists still lingered. At 0700 the sun was yet to rise in Jingpeng valley. A rising crescendo of sound from an unseen source was building until - finally, the reason we had traveled to this remote and wild place appeared. It was surely an apparition. Seasoned enthusiasts gasped, not because each breath was a sharp reminder of temperatures well below zero, but in sheer disbelief that this legendary place was not but a dream. This planet has had nothing finer to offer a beholder.
