Accelerating rapidly, a 5011 class 2-10-4, built by Baldwin
in 1944, is leaving Amarillo westbound. These massive
locomotives had 74 inch drivers and developed 93,000 lbs.
of tractive effort. The four-unit diesels which replaced them
were unable to equal their times between stations.
