UP's Wendover Local glides west along former WP rails at Delle, Utah. The 51 car train is ascending a mild 0.4% grade at the junction point of the 10.6 mile Rowley Industrial Lead. On this clear winter afternoon, the Wasatch Front is visible in the background on the east side of Salt Lake City. The smokestack at Kennecott's Garfield Smelter is also visible in the middle at the foot of the Oquirrh Mountains, about 35 miles away by rail. The former D&RGW Roper Yard (where the LUE51 originated) is about 50 miles east of Delle by rail.
