The sun is low as our train climbs out of the valley of the Rio Chubut towards Norquinco. For those of us from the western U.S. the Esquel line is very reminiscent of the Carson and Colorado through western Nevada and eastern California.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
The narrow gauge line to Esquel, Argentina, variously known as La Trochita, The Old Patagonian Express, or just the Esquel line, linked the remote villages of southern Patagonia with the outside world. It is amazing that the line still exists.
