| United States Department of Transportation track geometry cars T-1 and T-3 (with Federal Railroad Administration staff on board) test Rio Grande's eastward main through Spanish Fork Canyon. D&RGW business car 'Wilson McCarthy' is along for the ride on this spectacular autumn day, gliding east through the location of what would become the 1983 Thistle mudslide that dammed the Spanish Fork River and buried the railroad and Highway 6 under 300 feet of mud. |
