At it's most basic level, railroads exist to move a product from one location to another. At each end there is oft-overlooked interaction with all the men and women whose jobs are supported by freight rail. Here at a local lumber distributor, workers unload pallets from a centerbeam flatcar on a winter afternoon. Car-load local service still has an important place in today's economy.
