As one of the Lost Engines of Roanoke the CW 662 shows some of her models unique details in this top view! How about those six Stacks, she was built with four. After years of languishing in the Scrap line of a Roanoke Scrap Yard she was saved for possible preservation. The 662 received a complete cosmetic restoration by the Roanoke Chapter of the National Railway historical Society for the Virginia Museum of Transportation for which she belongs over the last year and half. The 662 was built in Nov 1946 with her sisters 661 & 663 making up the three Baldwin Diesels to totally dieselize the Chesapeake Western over night! This Locomotive is due to be presented to the Virginia Museum of Transportation on July 7th 2012 where she will be displayed under cover.
