Three westbound Santa Fe trains pause at the service tracks at Belen, New Mexico, on the evening of May 22, 1991. Soon, all three trains will race into the night, for a nocturnal crossing of the desert southwest. Santa Fe No. 9511 is a recently rebuilt (by the Santa Fe) U36C, and is now labeled a SF30C.
