With overnight temps dipping to freezing, the colors are starting to perk up in the White River Valley at East Granville, Vermont. The Amtrak southbound Vermonter train 55 with the Phase I Commemorative P42 #156 is north of the next stop at Randolph, VT with a typical (somehow a special on yellow paint in Vermont?) wood frame home in the mountains.
The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.
