| The last Maumee and Western train ever from Napoleon to Defiance waits out Christmas Eve about halfway along the 15 mile line. The MAW will cease to exist soon, the line has been purchased by Pioneer Railcorp and will be operated as part of the Michigan Southern. Once this train gets to Defiance number 4 along with the other two MAW units in Defiance will head west out of Defiance, the first train from Defiance to Woodburn in about 10 years where they will be added with the West End MAW unit and be interchanged with Norfolk Southern ending the MAW era on the old Wabash 5th District between Toledo and Fort Wayne.
