On May 23, 1997, at the east end of Alliance Yard, a coal load departs eastbound for the Sand Hills Subdivision while three others wait their turn. Coal trains in this era are the domain of EMD’s AC-powered SD70MACs, decked out in “Grinstein” colors, as seen on this damp spring day in Nebraska.
