    Remarks & Notes
The company the photographer held an assembly-line job with went on strike for a 25-cent raise in September 1951. That was all the temptation he needed to climb aboard PRR train #13, an overnight mail train that ran to Pittsburgh from New York as far as Altoona for his first exposure at the heart of the PRR. It was pulled by babyface #5833, and after detraining he got this shot at the head end with his Bolsey camera loaded with Kodachrome. BLW Model designation DR-12-8-3000.

The Pennsy was one of the biggest passenger carriers in the United States, but its fortunes waned and it lost business to the highways and skies, and stumbled toward its ill-fated merger with the New York Central.

Do you ever get the feeling as a model railroader, that you just might be creating something not "prototypical?" Same here.
