In the mid-1990's the Rustenburg Platinum Mine helped extend the life of several South African Railways class 15CA and 15F 4-8-2 steam locomotives, which they hired from S.A.R. to work on their extensive mine railway. Class 15F no. 2908 is seen easing through the S-bend at Klipfontein, as it approaches the reduction plant with a load of ore from Brakspruit shaft.
