      Remarks & Notes
The always resourceful Rio Grande converted a group of sand hoppers to haul ballast in the late 1970s. Built in Feb. 1951, this remodeled car (with the original roof removed) awaits its next assignment at Provo Yard. This was the only car in the series to receive a complete repaint and orange graphics, completed in April 1978 at the Burnham shops in Denver.

Do you ever get the feeling as a model railroader, that you just might be creating something not "prototypical?" Same here.

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
